Samsung announced that it was developing AI-powered smart glasses in collaboration with Google and eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker in October 2025. At Google I/O 2026, the companies revealed the first official look at the upcoming Android XR running wearable.
The AI smart glasses will be available in two distinct designs, one created by Gentle Monster and the other by Warby Parker. While Google and Samsung haven’t revealed detailed hardware specifications, they highlighted the key features the glasses would offer.
The AI glasses run Android XR and can provide hands-free access to Gemini via voice commands. Users can get turn-by-turn navigation, discover nearby places, and receive personalised recommendations in real time.
For productivity features, the glasses have the ability to place orders, view summarised message notifications, create calendar events, and more. The Android XR glasses will offer real-time translation during conversations. Its built-in camera and AI capabilities can provide instant translation of text and signs. The camera can also capture photos and videos.
As expected from smart glasses, the new wearable will function as a companion device that will be paired with a smartphone. The official images show that the glasses feature a single camera and an LED indicator light.
The AI-powered smart glasses developed by Samsung and Google are expected to launch later this fall. More details will be shared in the coming months.
