Smart Advice: Editor's Pick: Galaxy S25 lineup receives the April 2026 security update

Samsung has begun rolling out the April 2026 security patch to its smartphones since the month started. The first to receive the update was the Galaxy S26 series. It has now reached the Galaxy S25 lineup. The update makes the phone more secure.

However, the company is currently rolling it out in its home country, South Korea. It’s expected that in a few days, it will be released in other countries. The update for Galaxy S25 that brings the April 2026 security patch in Korea features firmware version S938NKSS9BZCH.

Just like previous security updates, the April 2026 security patch enhances the device security. The company is yet to announce the number of security issues it will fix. It’s expected that Samsung will reveal the details in that regard soon. You can follow this step to update your Galaxy S25 to the latest firmware: go to Settings > Software update > Download and then install.

Moreover, in December, 2025, Samsung opened the One UI 8.5 beta Programme for the software update for the Galaxy S25. It’s interesting to know that the company has released eight beta versions of the new software for the phones, offering them new features. Though, One UI 8.5 for them didn’t offer all the features, just as it is in the case of the Galaxy S26.

It implied that Samsung wanted to keep the features limited to the Galaxy S26 series to enhance its sales. The company has announced that it would offer many Galaxy S26 features to the Galaxy S25 with the One UI 8.5 update.
